Just Sharing An Email In My Box

Xtin, Buy Birds Directly From Breeders, Please

Hi Xtin.

You may have been tempted to buy birds from online trading
boards and online pet shops. We do not recommend these
commercial avenues because you will not be able to select
the actual bird from a group of birds in their actual living
conditions.

If you order from online trading boards or online pet shops,
it is possible that the bird that you get will not be the
exact animal that you purchased.

That's why many online pet catalogs will have fine print
that states that the animals shown in the catalogs may not
be the same as the animals that are actually shipped when
someone orders.

To make sure that you get a healthy, vibrant bird, we
recommend that you visit a pet shop (at the very least) or
individual breeders or avian enthusiasts.

There are many benefits when you choose these avenues over
online or mail-order commercial avenues:

1. You can see all the birds that are for sale in the
flesh. You will be able to inspect every facet of the birds
that you want to purchase and the breeder won't be able to
hide signs of neglect, if such signs are present. You can
make sound buying decisions by just looking at the physical
appearance of the birds.

2. You can inspect the cages or the aviary of the
breeder. If the aviary is extremely dirty and droppings
abound, there is a big chance that the birds inside are
already sick from parasites and bacterial infections. You
can simply walk away when you find that the birds are kept
in horrendous living conditions.

3. When you do find a good breeder, that breeder will
be your new go-to person when you need someone to talk to
about your new birds.

With that said, you can be expecting this in the future:

Next time we speak, we'll be on about knowing the
difference between a healthy and a sick bird. If you have
more than one bird, it can be difficult to determine which
one is sick.

Talk soon,
Jone Knoph
